Welcome to the Wanette Flag Day Association

We provide Wanette and the surrounding area with events that are family oriented and enrich our community spirit. We have several events throughout the year, celebrating the seasons and other special times. The biggest event of the year is our annual Wanette Flag Day Celebration which includes games, contests, vendors, food and a parade during the day and then we top of the day with an exciting rodeo in the evening.

A Little History

On June 14, 1777, a resolution was passed by the Second Continental Congress stating, “…the flag of the United States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white… [and] the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

On Flag Day, we celebrate the struggles, battles and bloodshed that went into the creation of this amazing country, and all the ensuing battles since then to be sure we .“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

Wanette, Oklahoma has held a Flag Day celebration since 1906. Through time it has been the highlight of the year, and draws people from far and wide. Join us in family friendly events, watch the parade, and enjoy good food, music, and great vendors throughout the day. Then top off the day at our rodeo!
